Well, well, well! We’re a winner!

We're very pleased to announce that at Monday night's Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards, Pancake Farm was announced as the 'Best Local Producer/Supplier', a category sponsored by The Daffodil. An already marvellous night, thanks to the wonderful setting of the Centaur, the presence of HRH The Princess Royal and a fabulous locally-sourced three-course dinner, suddenly became magnificent. Being nominated again in 2013, after our commendation last year in the 'Best Food Product' category for rubyVEAL, a joint venture that we undertook with Manor Farm, Chedworth, was already an accolade as far as we were concerned. Nominated again!

Well, it was a complete surprise last year to find that we had been nominated for the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards and made it through as one of the three finalists in the Best Local Food Product category, for the rubyVEAL we produce. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that out of all the wonderful and very accomplished food producers in the Cotswolds we would be one of those picked as exemplary! In the end, it was Charlie Beldam's excellent Cotswold Gold that took the title, but it was a great experience and we were very proud of our 'Highly Commended' certificate. Lambing

Lambing got off to a flying start this week, but I'm still counting my blessings after we decided last autumn to delay putting the rams in for a month - so instead of starting mid-March, our proposed lambing date was April 19th. Looking out on the weather we had a month ago, it was very much a case of 'there but for the grace...'. Considering how little grass we've had the ewes are in fantastic condition - and the first girl to pop delivered us with a great-sized pair of twins... ...
